One Story

The story of our company started from the humble beginnings of its founder Shiraz “Sam” Mawji. Starting from scratch he worked his way through the roller coaster markets of Alberta, finally settling in Calgary. Here he started the road map of what is now Triple One.

Sam Mawji began this journey by opening the very first Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton outside the continental United States in January 1997. A pioneer for the brand, at the time owned by Promus Hotels, the Hampton Inn & Suites Calgary Airport was a launching pad for the vast distribution it now enjoys in Canada.

Continuing this journey, Sam pioneered another first by opening the Courtyard by Marriott at the Saskatoon Airport in December of 2014. The first in the Marriott family of brands property in the province of Saskatchewan. The property is part of a multi-phase five acre development, that includes a Home2 by Hilton along with an 80,000 Class A suburban office space.

The year following the completion of the Courtyard, Sam Mawji suddenly passed away. Leaving his family to continue the growth and success of his legacy.
